Application
Water treatment for inline point of entry water supply where water hardness is an issue.
Description
Hard water leads to scaling, which can clog and damage pipes, valves, and hot water equipment. It also makes it harder for detergent and soap to lather and rinse off properly. Additionally, the minerals in hard water can leave spots on whiteware, glass, and vehicles.
Water softeners are the most effective way to address the challenges of hard water. They work by removing minerals like calcium, magnesium, and small amounts of iron through an ion-exchange process, resulting in softer water.
The ion-exchange process requires the unit to periodically backwash and regenerate once its capacity is reached. This regeneration process uses coarse salt, which is drawn from the brine tank to recharge the softener through a chemical exchange. The control valve manages this process automatically, either based on water volume via a microprocessor or on a preset schedule using a timer.
