How often does a fridge filters typically last?
Each fridge filter has a service flow life some have been tested to last longer by flowrate such as the Wpro water filter that has a tested 5500l capacity which makes it suited heavy use homes.

Standard Recommendation: Every 6 months, or as soon as your fridge’s indicator light turns on which works on a countdown timer, not flow rate uasge counter.

To strictly comply with intellectual property and patent laws, aftermarket manufacturers design their own proprietary external locking interfaces. Because they do not replicate the patented structural elements of the original brands:

Physical Differences: The external "key" or plastic tabs will look slightly different from your original filter.

Perfect Fit: Despite these cosmetic and mechanical differences, the internal filtration media is engineered to fit and seal perfectly with your designated fridge model.

Installation Feel: When twisting the new filter into place, you may feel a slightly tighter fit or a different "click" than the original. This is completely normal and ensures a secure seal.
Step-by-Step Installation Guide
Because aftermarket filters feature unique keylock designs, they require precise alignment during installation. Follow these steps for a seamless replacement.
Step 1: Prep & Pressure Relief

Shut off the water: Locate the cold water supply valve (usually under the sink) and turn it off.

Close the tank (if applicable): If your fridge connects to a Reverse Osmosis (RO) system, turn the blue valve on top of the storage tank to the "off" position.

Relieve the pressure: Open your dispenser or connected faucet until the water stops flowing completely. Skipping this step makes removing the old filter incredibly difficult.
Step 2: Removing the Old Filter

Place a towel underneath the filter housing to catch any stray drops.

Firmly grasp the old filter and twist it counter-clockwise (to the left) roughly 90 degrees.

Ensure it is fully unlocked: On some models (like Samsung or Westinghouse/Electrolux), you must firmly push up while twisting the filter almost "too far" to reset the internal fridge mechanism into the correct position for the new filter.

Once it hits the stop point, gently pull the filter straight down and out of the receiver head.
Step 3: Installing the New Aftermarket Filter

Remove the sanitary shipping cap from the top of the new filter.

Line up the plastic "lugs" (tabs) on top of the filter with the slots inside the receiver head.

The Push-and-Twist: Push the filter up firmly into the head until it seats completely, then rotate it clockwise (to the right) a quarter-turn until it locks securely into place.
Step 4: Flushing & Leak Check

Slowly turn your cold water supply valve back on.

The 5-Minute Flush: Run the water dispenser continuously for at least 5 minutes.

Note: It is completely normal for the water to look cloudy or greyish at first. This is harmless carbon dust and trapped air escaping the new filter.

Wipe the filter housing completely dry, wait 2 minutes, and check thoroughly for any signs of moisture or leaks.
