Description

The Pentair isan  NSF58 Certified  GRO-2550 system that includes the high recovery rate  GRO-50 encapsulated membrane.

What is a high -recovery encapsulated membrane?

A high recovery GRO (Generic Reverse Osmosis) encapsulated membrane is a type of reverse osmosis membrane designed to maximize water recovery while maintaining high rejection rates for contaminants.

Reverse osmosis (RO) is a water purification technology that uses a semipermeable membrane to remove ions, molecules, and larger particles from drinking water. In traditional RO systems, a significant amount of water is typically wasted during the purification process. High recovery membranes aim to minimize this waste by allowing more water to pass through the membrane and be recovered as purified water.

The encapsulated design refers to the membrane being housed within a protective enclosure or module, which helps maintain its integrity and prolong its lifespan. This design also facilitates easier installation and replacement.

Overall, a high recovery GRO encapsulated membrane offers improved water efficiency and purification performance compared to traditional RO membranes, making it suitable for various applications where water conservation is important.

  • Reduce cysts such as Cryptosporidium and Giardia by mechanical means.
  • Water on demand delivered from a storage tank
  • Encapsulated element for simplified replacement
  • Meltblown sediment depth prefilter
  • Extruded carbon block prefilter

How it Works

The Pentair GRO-2550 system includes the high recovery GRO-50 encapsulated membrane. The carbon/sediment pre-filter reduces the particles and chlorine taste and odor to prolong the life of the RO membrane.

The carbon/sediment pre-filter reduces the particles and chlorine taste and odor to prolong the life of the RO membrane.

The RO membrane separates water molecules from dissolved salts and minerals. Up to 96% of these total dissolved solids (TDS) are rejected and sent down the drain.

What are total dissolved solids?

Total Dissolved Solids (TDS) are all the good and bad elements in your drinking water. These can be organic and inorganic substances such as minerals, salts, metals, cations, or anions dissolved in water.

The RO-filtered water is sent to the storage tank until you need it.

When you turn on the drinking water faucet, the filtered water from the storage tank is sent through a carbon polishing filter which provides final taste and odor filtration before the water reaches your glass. Cleaner, fresher water whenever you want it!

Performance

The system was tested in a lab. Under those conditions, the system reduced 0.050 mg/L (ppm) pentavalent arsenic to 0.010 mg/L (ppm)(the USEPA standard for drinking water) or less. The performance of the system may be different at your installation. Have the treated water tested for arsenic to check if the system is working properly.

Recovery 31.8%  is equal to or greater than efficiency because the storage tank produces back pressure that reduces the flow rate of product water into the tank (which reduces the amount of product water produced compared to water coming in), whereas the flow rate of the water going down the drain does not change.

TDS Rejection: 96.8%  (a good RO rejection rate is between 75 and 100 %) TDS rejection in an RO (Reverse Osmosis) system refers to the percentage of total dissolved solids (TDS) removed from the water during the purification process. TDS includes various inorganic salts, minerals, and other dissolved substances in water.

Rejection Values

  • Barium 99%
  • Cadmium 97%
  • Chromium 6  96%
  • Chromium3   99%
  • Copper 98%
  • Fluoride 95%
  • Lead 98%
  • Radium 80%
  • Nitrate 78.4%
  • Selenium 98%
  • TDS 95%

Arsenic The system was tested in a lab. Under those conditions, the system reduced

0.050 mg/L (ppm) pentavalent arsenic to 0.010 mg/L (ppm)(the USEPA standard for drinking water) or less. The performance of the system may be different at your installation. Have the treated water tested for arsenic to check if the system is working properly.
